FAQs

What is Project Valentine?

Project Valentine was founded in February of 2002 by Colleen Anderson, with the mission of making Valentine’s Day a “little sweeter” for individuals in the Denver area undergoing cancer treatment. Since that time, Project Valentine volunteers have created and donated items to assemble hundreds of care packages. These care packages are hand-delivered to men, women and children undergoing cancer treatment on Valentine’s Day.

Delivery Stats for 2016: Another great year! 511 bags delivered to women and men at 17 infusion centers throughout metro Denver. Thank you for your generosity and assistance!

What Types of Donations Are Needed?

Ideas for care packages are endless! Handmade gifts are not only appropriate, they are often the most appreciated items we distribute. Remember, we serve cancer patients from all walks of life: young and old, male and female, and those of all faiths.

Need ideas? Here are some items we need:

  • Unique and special items for Men, as well as baseball hats, puzzle books and water bottles)
  • Hand made scarves, hats, socks or pillowcases
  • New paperback books or magazines
  • New DVDs
  • New CDs of comforting and inspiring music
  • New puzzles and books
  • Gift cards ($5 & $10)
  • New decks of playing cards

Be creative, we will be delighted with what you give!

Smells and strong tastes can be hard during chemo, as are so many things…may we suggest fragrance-free items.
We cannot accept home-made food items.

Great News! We have been blessed with an unbelievable amount of donations for children’s care packages. Thank you all for your donations! We will let you know when we can accept more donations for children.
